Amy Raymond is a Sydney-based professional artist creating bold, expressive seascapes that celebrate the colour, texture and rhythm of the Australian coast. A lifelong beach lover and proud Sydneysider, she draws constant inspiration from the ever-changing beauty of the ocean, beaches and surrounding rock pools, from sunlit shallows to the movement of swimmers in the water.
Amy's work blurs the line between realism and abstraction. Her distinctive figures represent life within the landscape rather than focusing on the individual, capturing the energy and movement of Sydneysiders' coastal lifestyle alongside the sea itself. Working intuitively in layers of acrylic and ink wash, she aims to capture the feeling of a place, its energy, stillness and sense of nostalgia, with colour and vibrancy as a recurring thread intended to spark a joyous, nostalgic response in the viewer.
Amy's creative journey began early, nurtured by a childhood love of drawing and painting. After studying graphic design, she spent over a decade as a Senior Art Director at a leading advertising agency, before stepping away to focus on family life. She has since returned to her true passion and now paints full time.
Amy is currently focused on exhibiting at the Affordable Art Fairs across Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, bringing her coastal-inspired pieces to collectors and ocean lovers alike. She also welcomes commissions, working with clients to create bespoke coastal pieces for their own homes and collections.
